This machine is awesome. Intensity level for the Max interval program can be as tough as you want to make it. After 4 months of heavy use, the 14 min workout is still intense. Two drawbacks are the price and the roller wheels. At $1000, its a bit more spendy than I was originally looking at for an eliptical, however still not the most expensive eliptical on the market. You just have to take a leap of faith as you don't have a chance to try it before you buy it. The roller wheels is the biggest flaw. If not for the design issue, this machine is well build. After a month or two of use, the wheels start to squeek. Bowflex does have a maintenace fix, however i have only seen it as temporary. Bowflex should save face on their almost perfect machine by redesigning the rollersand replacing them. When you pay $1000, you expect better quality.

Let me start by saying I'm 40, 6' 3" & 278 pounds. I haven't been close to 215 for 14 years. I think I am too tall to get a decent workout. It seems like the stride for me is too "short", I'd really feel more "stretch" picking my knees up another 6 inches or so, it just feels like i'm shuffling my feet. I'm sure this designed for the average woman who does 90% of household spending. My wife likes it alot more than I. I just don't think it "fits" me well. I also have it sitting on some mats to protect my feet from cold concrete floors and I get it rocking pretty good. My kids don't have this problem. Again I think this is more a "me" problem than a design flaw. My only real gripe is I wish it had more resistance.

Comments about Bowflex Max Trainer M3:

I have been on the weight-loss roller coaster for years, but I end up quitting due to boredom. With the M3 I am motivated, and at times excited, to work out every day. I love that I can customize my workout to how I am feeling on a particular day, whether I want to go for a "leisurely stroll" or push it to the MAX.
It's compact size is another great advantage and allows me to have it positioned in the corner of a room with plenty of extra space. The machine is quiet and sturdy allowing me to work out hard without any worries.
I have nothing bad to say about this machine!

Comments about Bowflex Max Trainer M3:

I have not exercised in years due to an 2 surgeries to my left foot to repair the tendons. I can no longer walk for exercise cause of the pain. So I have tried other machines with no luck. I have been researching this machine and pulled the gun and bought it!y son in law put it together for me! Next morning I jumped on and started out slow making sure I could work out! First use I got 4 minutes in with no pain!! Each day I increased time by one to two minutes!! My goal was to get up to 20 minutes and now I have added the tension! I work out for 10 minutes then move tension to 2 and am moving tension in sooner. My goal is to work out 14 minutes each morning before work!! No weight loss yet, but not giving up yet!!!

Comments about Bowflex Max Trainer M3:

Since I started using the M3 I've been extremely impressed and happy with it. I use it on an almost daily basis because it is simply so fun, easy to use and it only takes 15 or 20 minutes to get a great work out. I feel great on it and it operates extremely smooth and quiet. I never get any joint pain from it or the feeling of over exaustion. Yet it gives me an incredible leg muscle and cardio work out. It also gives my arms a great warm up exercise. I really like the manual resistance adjuster on the M3 model since it is not dependent on electric power and you don't have to keep mashing down on buttons to adjust resistance like on the M5. It can even hold my laptop if I want to watch something while I work out. I don't use it to loose weight as I am already in good shape as an avide bicyclist, but I needed an indoor machine that would give me just as satisfying of a work out and it does. Deffinitly the best indoor workout machine I've ever used.

Hi Steve, yes, this machine can be used by someone in their 70's, If it's too hard to start with, you can simply use it in the manual mode as an elliptical. We talked to a customer today who was 75 and loves it.

Hi Kevin! You would have absolutely no problem with the Max Trainer. We have some users that are your wife's height and use it with no problems, and we've had a few that have a hard time getting the pedals started. It really depends on the length of the leg. We do have a 6 week satisfaction guarantee period and stand behind our products. If you do not like it, we do not charge a restocking fee and would be more than happy to set up the return for a full refund less shipping and handling.

While the 14 minute interval workout is the featured workout on the machine, it does also come with a manual workout that allows you to workout as long or as little as you want. For more information about the available workouts, please review the attached owner's manual:
