Not for a beginner

This is a quiet, compact unit. I would suggest it for someone who is already fit and wanting to up their fitness level. It is a challenge for the beginner like me.

Comments about Bowflex MAX Trainer M3:

This machine is awesome. Intensity level for the Max interval program can be as tough as you want to make it. After 4 months of heavy use, the 14 min workout is still intense. Two drawbacks are the price and the roller wheels. At $1000, its a bit more spendy than I was originally looking at for an eliptical, however still not the most expensive eliptical on the market. You just have to take a leap of faith as you don't have a chance to try it before you buy it. The roller wheels is the biggest flaw. If not for the design issue, this machine is well build. After a month or two of use, the wheels start to squeek. Bowflex does have a maintenace fix, however i have only seen it as temporary. Bowflex should save face on their almost perfect machine by redesigning the rollersand replacing them. When you pay $1000, you expect better quality.

Definitely provides a great workout and makes you sweat! Like that its not as big as other ellipticals out there. I also like that the only noise you hear is from the built in fan. There's not much I can complain about - overall a great exercise machine!

Comments about Bowflex MAX Trainer M3:

The M3 provides a solid high intensity intervals workout. It's a convenient size for an apartment and the pre-programmed MAX workout is great for those without a lot of spare time. It gets the job done, bottom line. I do wish the M3 had more resistance options/levels but I would definitely recommend giving this machine a try.

This thing is a monster! In the best possible kind of way ;) Probably not for the couch potato who has never exercised a day in their life but doesn't require and Olympic athlete to enjoy either. It took me a few times to actually build up the the full 14 minutes but, once I did, it became a competition between me and the machine! It almost calls to me, tempting me to bump up the workout level and see if I can still handle it. Basically, I love this thing and the whole family has gotten into it!

Other than the displays and the bells and whistles, is there a difference in the M3 and M5 machines themselves? In other words, is there a quality difference?

        1 answer

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

Hello Ms. Catty! Both the Bowflex M3 and M5 MAX Trainers are designed and manufactured to the highest standard. Aside from, as you said "bells and whistles", the main difference between the M3 and the M5 is that the M3 uses a manual shifting mechanism for the user to move through the available resistance levels, whereas the M5 is an "automatic". The M5 also has Bluetooth Smart technology and has an app available (for select devices only) that can be used to track and monitor your progress through BowflexConnect.com.

Hi Francis! The operational voltage for the AC adaptor for the Bowflex MAX Trainer M3 is 9vDC, 1500mA. If thee are concerns about blowing a circuit, I would recommend using the machine on its own circuit or not using the AC and the MAX Trainer at the same time.
